This may come as a surprise to many but the request for men's grooming, including hair and makeup, on the wedding day is gaining momentum. Within the past few years, the request for such services has increased dramatically. Maybe it is due to the men of Hollywood who look so well put together for publications such as GQ, or the thought of high definition video and 24 mega-pixel cameras aimed for close-ups, or maybe it is from the influence of their brides. Whatever the case may be, this service request is not out of the ordinary.
Men's grooming services are best known in the photo shoot, modeling, television, or film world, right? Wrong! These shine control, hair styling, and pimple concealing techniques can be used in everyday life to special events– especially where pictures or video will be taken. Grooming services are simple and do not entail layering loads of product on the skin or hair. It's simply basic hair styling, blemish concealment, and shine control– not too much product but just enough to make a difference.
The process is completely painless and can be enhanced by proceeding the day with basic skin care. Basic men's grooming on the wedding day may start off by having the hair professionally styled and set into place. This would be followed by moisturizing and applying an oil control product all over the face. Prepping the skin in such a way will help keep the face from secreting too much oil so the skin will be less reflective in pictures. Next would be to spot conceal any blemishes or under eye circles with a small amount of concealer. After all problem areas are taken care of by the concealer, a sheer layer of transluscent powder is dusted all over the face. Some clients may take it a step further and add a dusting of bronzer for definition and color. Next would be to comb through the brows with an eye brow brush and to set in place with a clear brow gel. To finish, lip balm, chap stick, or lip conditioner, is applied to the lips so they do not appear dry in pictures or video– this will not have a glossy effect, I promise!
These steps are easy enough to be DIY (do it yourself). When in doubt, turn to a professional hair and makeup artist that is proficient in men's grooming. A professional would be the best route when selecting the right products for the job!
